About

Hi I’m Naoko. It’s very nice to meet you!

I’m a Japanese woman living in a small apartment in Shinjuku, Tokyo with my boyfriend. I’ve been trying to live a zero waste lifestyle since I happened to know the idea of  zero waste in 2015.

In Japan, zero waste is not known enough yet. After the book  “Zero Waste Home” by Bea Johnson was translated into Japanese, the situation changed a little. But I got almost all the information necessary for a zero waste life from foreign blogs and the original version of Bea’s book. So you, English natives, you are so lucky because you can get knowledge without a language barrier.

But as a Japanese person, sometimes I feel these tips they share are not always suitable to lives in Japan, and even (not so frequently though) think that there are other good tips.
And of course people living in other countries don’t have Japanese local information to share.

So, in this blog, I mainly focus on two types of topics below:

  1. Topics that people in the English-speaking world don’t cover, but that I think are pretty helpful in the zero waste lifestyle.
  2. Local topics that I would like to be known by people from different countries living in Japan. (Information written in Japanese tend to be unknown, right?)

I hope I could provide helpful information.

And I have the other blog written in Japanese. If you can read Japanese, more details on my zero waste life are here.  My Japanese blog
